NEWS As you can imagine, not a lot is happening in the walking world at the moment. People just don't know what's going to happen. The Government can't be relied on for accurate predictions, as so much of what they say is designed to protect the tourist industry. What we can't afford to happen is that a return to the hills is rushed through. If it takes another 6 months, then so be it. This has been a terrible time for many farmers and I for one would not relish leading walks through a countryside devastated by slaughter and running the risk however small of spreading the misery further. On a more selfish note, we could probably have picked a better time to launch a walk guide service. Still things must pass, it's but a small glitch in the greater scheme of things. Mother Nature cannot be thwarted by the meddling of man. If we become too much of a nuisance, she'll rub us out and start again. Looking forward to the next time we walk together. Roy Layton
